Our mission is to provide the best possible care to mothers and infants in the Dominican Republic, ensuring a healthy start so they can reach their full potential in life. We believe in the right of every mother and every baby to receive adequate care, emotional support and resources necessary for their integral development, through educational programs, accessible medical care and a support network, we work to empower families and promote well-being in our community.

Our History

The Fundacion Dominicana de Infectologia was founded 35 years ago in the Dominican Republic, and 25 years ago in the United States as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The first mission was to identify causes of thousands of meningitis and pneumonia cases that killed and disabled Dominican children in the 1980s, and accelerate the introduction of vaccines that could prevent these infections. Having achieved much success in this initiative, we changed our name in 2018 to the Dominican Foundation for Mothers and Infants to decrease neonatal mortality by creating programs of care for newborns and premature infants, and  mothers with high risk pregnancies and deliveries.

Together we can make a difference.
