Non-invasive Ventilation Program

One of the main causes of neonatal mortality in developing countries is the respiratory distress syndrome. For this reason, in 2019 the Dominican Foundation for Mothers and Infants donated a bubble CPAP machine to Dr. Antonio Musa Regional Hospital, being the first bCPAP machine of the Dominican Republic. This innovative bubble CPAP machine is a low-cost, high- performance and easy-to-use alternative to deliver continuous positive air pressure in low- resource settings. Our program also includes training and periodic education of the personnel working at the neonatal intensive care units receiving this machine, and constant follow up in case of queries. In a year, more than 50 babies have benefited from this device, and we are counting on your collaboration to continue to help more children.

Currently, we are working in collaboration with Project Hope for the introduction of new bCPAP machines at the North and South regions of the Dominican Republic, along with training, education, and ongoing support of the medical and nursing body.
